Life After 70: Weird Dreams

Well, my mom never told me what life would be like past 70! She didn’t mention the weird dreams. Although…she did!

I remember visiting my mom one day when she spent her last days in the nursing home. She laughed when she told me this story. “Carolyn, I had the weirdest dream last night. I was driving a motorcycle and John (that’s my nephew) was on the back. I turned around and said, “John, we have to hurry home because if we don’t, this chicken isn’t going to be any good!” It’s sad in a way because my mom could not eat solid food and she often craved chicken and hamburgers. She said she'd often dream about these foods.

I’ve experienced some weird dreams now past 70, usually I don’t remember too much about them. However, lately, I’ve been watching a lot of TV, older series, particularly “Harry’s Law” with Kathy Bates. Remember her in “Misery” …actually, I never liked her in that. I do love her character in Harry’s Law! She packs heat! 

That’s what she said to me in my weird dream, “Carolyn, you need to pack heat!”

"What? Harry, I can’t do that. I’m not in the same neighborhood as you!"
