My Lord is My Shepherd

I have been enjoying my cup of coffee while keeping an eye on the chickadee filling up on seed at our birdfeeder. This week marks a two year anniversary of an emergency abdominal surgery which left me feeling weak and challenged. 

 

 

Recovery has continued and as I hold my granddaughter as she sleeps I speak Psalm 23 (New King James Version) over her, “The Lord is my Shepherd. I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul.  He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.  You anoint my head with oil. My cup runs over with joy. (“You have welcomed me as Your guest.) Blessings overflow.” Psalm 23:5 TLB Surely, goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the Lord’s house forever,”

 

 

I know God is in it.

 

The small things are the big things.

 

I would have missed this, instead, I am here and so blessed to have this opportunity to live and heal.

 

The six month old’s bright blue eyes are filled with wonder as she hears Psalm 23 over again. Hopefully I will always remember the angelic little face so seemingly focused on mine as I pray and recite God’s Word.  It is the same expression once reflected in my daughter’s eyes many years ago.  

 

As I set my heart to continue reading, studying, and most importantly memorizing The Bible, I must remember how powerful is prayer and God’s Word. It can be easy to forget when the distractions of life become too many. However, some of life's distractions are precious. Our grandson looked up at the sky and said, "I think God is taking a bubble bath."
