Life Lessons

What’s in a title? Surely, Lynn or I have written about this subject, “Life Lessons”. Looking back on our devotional titles, it looks like we danced around it, but never had a devotion titled “Life Lessons”.

Some titles were “Lessons Over Coffee” by Lynn, “Following the Rules”, one I wrote, “Strategy for Life’s Ups and Downs" by Lynn, and another I wrote “Fabric of Our Lives” …they were all excellent, but not specifically: “Life Lessons”. Well, today, we have one and it’s a doozy! It's the race of life.

In Bible reading, I am in the book of James. I have the “The Charles F. Stanley, Life Principles Bible”. After selected scripture, it gives a “Life Lessons” section at the bottom of each page.

James 2:18 “But someone will say, ‘You have faith, and I have works.’ Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.” (NKJV) The “Life Lessons” commentary says, “James has no quarrel with faith. He understands that faith alone can save someone. What he opposes is a phony faith, the kind that supposedly exists without giving any practical confirmation of its existence.”

Here is my lesson. I need to know my “practical confirmation of my faith”. I need to pray about things I want to do only what I can do with the Lord’s help. "I want to run with endurance the race that is set before me."

What are some “Life Lessons” that the Lord is placing on your heart?
