Life is But a Song

My life is like a song.

I love songs from the 1950’s and 60’s. One of my favorite groups from this era is the Platters. Every morning when I head out to McDonald’s, I get a coffee and sometimes an Egg McMuffin for me and a Breakfast Burrito for my husband Pat.

I am hearing impaired, but I can hear my car radio perfectly, when it's not too loud, but just right. Songs don't necessarily need to be spiritual. Just songs about things that I love.

With my car’s Bluetooth, the first thing I do is ask Google, “iHeart Radio, the Platters”. Pop! On comes my favorites from this group. Songs like: “Habor Lights”, “Only You”, "My Prayer", and “Twilight Time” …just to name a few. Every time I hear the song “Twilight Time”, I think of one of my favorite places to eat “Skyline Chili” as this song was tweaked into their signature commercial for radio and television which I thought was very cool.

Oftentimes, I sing along with the music on my short jaunt to McDonald’s. Once I return with our breakfast, I enjoy sitting at the table with my husband drinking coffee and talking about what we are going to have for lunch and dinner.

Then, it’s time for my morning devotions. These are my days and my life is pretty much like a song…familiar and simple!

The ease of days brings to my mind what’s written in Ephesians 5:19: “singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart.” To the Lord I sing, and it brings the joy of life to each one of my days.
