For many years I have been able to observe how a large family works. Growing up there were six children in my husband's family.
Since I grew up with only a brother who was seven years younger than me, it was kind of a shock for me to experience being around and fitting into a large family.
The first time we traveled to Indiana, it was standing room only. All are welcome! For many years my side of the family only had six people gathered around the table for a Thanksgiving meal.
Sometimes, there may be fighting, competitiveness and envy, but in the end you are there for each other when needed because your family. From my husband's family I have learned that, "When each person does their part the family works together like a well-oiled machine. Others count on you to do your part. When each part is done, the whole is better than individual parts. Together we achieve more and are blessed." It brings so much joy when one sees how much help one can be to each other. Depending on each other draws one closer.
It is always nice to be included and needed, which is true of any size family. Just like with the family, when it comes to our country it is also important that we do our part to keep it running in the right way. Striving for good outcomes, this requires paying attention to issues that will affect you and your family.
Just as it is true that it is important for you to do your part in a large family, how much more in a country that impacts so many people! Please consider this when it is time to vote or run for an office.
Remember to pray and that each part counts. Do your part. God's word says, "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
