Freedom from Addiction...Relying on God

Monday, September 29, 2025

Romans 12:2 TLB “Do not copy the behavior and customs of this world, but be a new and different person with a fresh newness in all you say and think.  Then you will learn from your own experience how His ways will really satisfy you.”

Nothing transforms a person like the power of God touching your life. Jesus directs our steps and we are free from sin. Free from addictions, we are no longer a caged bird. We are set free from the sin that so easily has bound us and kept us from soaring.

I recently listened to a talk show as actor Charlie Sheen was asked about what it was like having experienced 8 years of sobriety:
“I just kept it really simple.  I’m so committed to the value of one’s worth.

I saw that in so many areas of my life the last person I was keeping my word to was myself. If I treated friendships and relationships like I treat myself none of them would exist.  I finally decided it was time to make a decision, make a promise to myself and just honor it, and honor it daily. Today is another day of that, and they’re all just strung together, one day at a time. That’s all we get. We only get one day at a time. Knowing there was really nothing left. And the evidence was overwhelming.”

2 Corinthians 5:17 from The Bible says, “Therefore if any man be in Christ he is a new creature, old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
