Gifts That Are Good

Deuteronomy 12:7 NIV “There, in the presence of The Lord your God, you and your families shall eat and shall rejoice  in everything you have put your hand to, because The Lord your God has blessed you.”

As I am sipping my coffee, I am all smiles about what happened on my husband’s birthday.

Last month we Invited all his sisters and brothers-in-laws to celebrate with us and it made for game-filled fun playing eukre and corn hole. For the birthday meal, he chose bean and bacon soup, along with loaded baked potatoes.Fruit of the forest pie with ice cream and peanut buttercookies took the place of birthday cake.

When it was time to unwrap presents, he opened a Superman shirt, a snail that glitters to place in the garden, among other great gifts, and a lot of cards tailored for him that made you laugh. 

Nearing the end of gift opening my daughter shared she had been holding back the big gift and went out to her car to present what was a pumpkin.At first glance, it was painted with the grandkids handprints.Highlighted with a heart and carved by paint, the heart also said BABY K. 

I realized the one year old had her handprint and name done the same way as the others, so she wasn’t BABY K.Oh the joy of children, our path to the future, and blessings of generations to come.  A new grandchild, BABY K, number four joining us for adventure in living, coming in June.

Thanking The Lord for surprises and every good gift. 

The Bible in James 1:17 says “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from The Father of the Heavenly Lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”

More birthdays are being celebrated this month with more opportunities to show appreciation for each other. It is always time well spent.My prayer: Lord may all our children and grandchildren walk in Your Light.  In Jesus name,Amen.
