Coffee by the Ocean

Monday, April 22, 2024
Enjoying my morning cup of coffee and celebrating a Monday with you.  My husband and I have had some opportunity to visit the ocean during the off season.  Perhaps you have, too. A more lonely beach at that time of the year, it is often accompanied by gray skies and sometimes whitecaps.
Psalm 147:7,8
“Praise the Lord from the earth, you great sea creatures and all ocean depths, lightning and hail, snow and clouds, stormy winds that do His bidding”

Still I love visits to the ocean, then, and one writer put it this way.“There’s a peacefulness in watching the waves relentlessly crash against the shore. There’s a calming effect in seeing whitecaps roll into the shore and crash with such grace. The ocean doesn’t need sunny skies and pristine waters to be beautiful.  The ocean is unapologetically authentic. It rolls with whatever the universe throws at it.  It doesn’t quit. It doesn’t stop. It just goes on.”
On days with gray skies and blustery winds, we face discouragement by riding the whitecaps with God’s strength.  His strength is as constant as the rolling tide of the ocean if we but lean on Him.

Mark 4:39
“Jesus got up, rebuked the wind, and said to the waves, “Quiet, be still!”  Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.”
