Lynn Berna
When I first began a career in Christian Radio in 1982, after getting a B.A. degree in Communications/Broadcasting, attending Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana, and graduating from Eastern Ky University, I had to work hard to get my foot in the door for a job in broadcasting, even though I was qualified.
It took a full year of knocking on doors and phone calls! Finally, WEEC in Springfield, the place I started in radio, had not hired a woman radio announcer full time, and I am pleased to have been the first! This helped pave the way for many other women, and I will always be thankful to Mike Maddex, the General Manager at the time, for hiring me.
Carolyn and I look forward to how God may be willing to use this writing opportunity with this new endeavor. As for me, I am hoping to drink coffee and blog with some old and new friends. I know we will enjoy "Helping One Another."
When I began magazine publishing, I was 47 years old. That may seem old to the younger generation, but then and now, to me, it’s young! I’ve learned a lot in those 24 years! I have come to terms with “Family Journal,” and “On a Mission,” both publications ending. I wanted to hold on, but I knew it was time for many different reasons. One of the main reasons was the expense of print. The print and paper process is a bygone era in how one reads. Now, it’s mostly all online. So, that’s where I want to be…online.
